For those who are native speakers of a Western European language or are familiar with the alphabetical structure of any Western European language, learning the Spanish alphabet should be very easy.
The English and Spanish alphabets are almost the same except that the Spanish one has three extra letters (ch, ñ and ll). Although the letters k and w are now considered part of the Spanish alphabet they are only ever used in words of foreign origin.
Intonation refers to the tone of voice that is used in speech. In both Spanish and English this is especially important when we ask questions. In these situations the tone of voice either rises or falls at the beginning or end of a question.
The Spanish language is probably easier to pronounce than some other European languages because it can be pronounced based on it's highly ordered written structure. A lot of the time Spanish words can be pronounced simply by pronouncing each letter separately in a phonetic way.
Words that are not pronounced in a phonetic way will either contain letters that take an accent mark or an orthographic rule which will enable the reader to pronounce certain letters in a certain way.
The pronunciation of the Spanish alphabet is very different to how it is pronounced in English. It is important to learn how each letter should be pronounced in order that you should be able to tell somebody how something is spelt, perhaps your name for example. It is also very important to learn when certain Spanish letters that are placed together are pronounced differently. This is especially true when joining certain vowels.
Stress refers to letters in words that take accent marks or tildes. Letters that take accent marks (or tildes), should be pronounced a little harder than normal. This is especially important when certain Spanish words are spelt exactly the same. Often in these situations the only way we can differentiate between them is by the subtle differences in pronunciation dictated by the existence of accent marks (or tildes).
